Short-time homomorphic wavelet estimation

چکیده
Successful wavelet estimation is an essential step for seismic methods like impedance inversion, analysis of amplitude variations with offset and full waveform inversion. Homomorphic deconvolution has long intrigued as a potentially elegant solution to the wavelet estimation problem. Yet a successful implementation has proven difficult. Associated disadvantages like phase unwrapping and restrictions of sparsity in the reflectivity function limit its application. We explore short-time homomorphic wavelet estimation as a combination of the classical homomorphic analysis and log-spectral averaging. The introduced method of log-spectral averaging using a short-term Fourier transform increases the number of sample points, thus reducing estimation variances. We apply the developed method on synthetic and real data examples and demonstrate good performance.

Seismic Wavelet Estimation by Short-time homomorphic wavelet analysis
SUMMARY Wavelet estimation plays an important role in many seismic processes like impedance inversion, amplitude versus offset (AVO) and full waveform inversion (FWI). Statistical methods of wavelet estimation away from well control are a desirable tool to support seismic signal processing. One of these methods based on Homomorphic analysis has long intrigued as a potentially elegant solution t...

متن کاملHomomorphic Filtering Approach for Narrow Band Images Enhancement
The application of narrow band imaging (NBI) in endoscopy improves the accuracy in diagnosis, including reduction in cost and time. It allows better definition between the epithelial surface and the adjacent vascular net via the application of narrow-bandwidth filters to standard white-light endoscopy. The fact, that only selected bandwidths are emitted results in a lower brightness, which requ...
متن کاملRevisiting Homomorphic Wavelet Estimation and Phase Unwrapping
Surface-consistent deconvolution is a standard processing technique in land data to uniformize the wavelet across all sources and receivers. The required wavelet estimation step is generally done in the homomorphic domain since this is a convenient way to separate the phase and the amplitude spectrum in a linear fashion. Unfortunately all surface-consistent deconvolutions make a minimum-phase a...
متن کاملChannel Effect Compensation in OFDM System under Short CP Length Using Adaptive Filter in Wavelet Transform Domain
Channel estimation in communication systems is one of the most important issues that can reduce the error rate of sending and receiving information as much as possible. In this regard, estimation of OFDM-based wireless channels using known sub-carriers as pilot is of particular importance in frequency domain. In this paper, channel estimation under short cyclic prefix (CP) in OFDM system is con...
